Connections-joining techniques (David Hockney)
- his idea of joiners happened accidentally
- David Hockney is seen as not just a photographer but an artist as well,
- during the late 60's he found out that the majority of photogrpahers used cameras which used wide angle lenses when taking their images but Hockney didn't like this for the reason that the images always came out
- He was working on a painting of a living room and terrace in Los Angeles. He took Polaroid shots of the living room and glued them together, not intending for them to be a composition on their own
- Collages-usually distorted portraits,
- instead of collages he called them joiners
- he uses polaroids, then experiments with different techniques and angles
- his earlier work consisted of grid like composer
- then switched to photo lab 33mm photographs, created collages with shape-(abstract)
- varied exposures of the same individual image which is included in each collage gives each work its fluidity movement
30 images
For our home learning we were asked to take 30 images which would relate to the theme I chose. I decided to do my work based on connections. After choosing my theme I explored with different angles and close ups. Next time I Endeavor to take more images based on the human body and emotions.
I found that this selection of 12 images worked the best as each row has its own theme and you can clearly see the various angles taken,
Section 1 is relating the human nature
section 2 is relating to time
section 3 is relating to angles
I am planning to use photoshop to edit the sections and put all the images together in different ways for example I would take inspiration from the Pinterest board seen above.
